Console Game Night is a large game party held once a semester in Cogswell's Dragon's Den, where people (Cogswell students and guests) bring their gaming consoles and games, hook them up to one of the many TVs set up in the room and play until late into the night. A raffle is always held during these events, with prizes varying from games to hardware to shirts. Free food is also served, usually in the form of hamburgers, soda, and snacks.
What To Bring
It's not required that you bring anything to the event, but it never hurts to have an extra game console or TV at hand. Here are some of the things patrons usually bring:
- A Game Console Points if it's a retro system
- Extra controllers Even if you don't bring a console, bring some controllers in case someone doesn't have enough.
- Games This is obvious, but the more games there are to play, the longer people will be enticed to stay. As with controllers, even if you don't bring a console, bring a few good multiplayer games to let people play.
- Handheld Console There are usually people floating around with a Nintendo DS or Sony PSP, willing to do some multiplayer.
Label All Your Things!
It's very important that you label your equipment and games so nobody accidentally takes it thinking it's theirs. We don't take responsibility if you lose anything during the night. We typically don't have any problems, but it doesn't hurt to be extra cautious.
Tournaments
During each event, there is typically at least one scheduled tournament. These tournaments usually have prizes up for grabs, or raffle tickets for the big raffle.
Raffle
Ticket Prices: $1 per ticket OR $10 for 12 tickets
Every Game Night event has a prize raffle. Prizes are usually announced just before the event. Prizes typically vary from games, to gaming hardware, to t-shirts. All proceeds from ticket sales go directly to the Game Development Club, allowing us to buy new computer hardware or software to help create new games or learn new toolsets.
Coordinator's Guide
